From the Author: Our family has been taking week-long vacations on Block Island for 6+ years. We love this island and know it well. If you have any questions, we respond quickly to comments!
There are three pet friendly hotels on Block Island: Champlin’s, Block Island Beach House, and Hotel Manisses.
However, if you’re open to accommodations with less than 20 rooms (i.e. “non-hotels” – Inns, B&Bs and house rentals), your options open up quite a bit.
Regardless of where you end up staying, you’ll find Block Island to be one of the most pet friendly islands in all of New England!

Tips for Traveling with a Pet to Block Island
Before we jump into the various pet friendly accommodations available to you, it’s worth reading the following!
- Block Island is an extremely DOG friendly island. All of the accommodations that follow are dog friendly, but only a few are cat friendly.
- You’ll find dogs at just about every beach on Block Island. Just make sure you keep yours on a leash!
- The Block Island ferry and chartered planes allow pets to travel to the island on a leash, or in a crate.
- Head down to Payne’s dock early in the morning and you’ll see about 100 dogs.
- The Mutt Hut is a must visit while on island! They sell dog food and supplies, but you can also contact them to pre-schedule a “pet sitter” for a night out alone.
